The Visionary Expansion of Andheshwar Mahadev Sankul, Amalsad

The Andheshwar Mahadev Temple in Amalsad, Gujarat, is a sacred spiritual nucleus deeply embedded in the region's cultural and emotional fabric. For generations, it has stood as a beacon of devotion, drawing pilgrims from across South Gujarat and beyond.

A Vision Rooted in Faith and Legacy:

In 2025, a bold new chapter began under the guidance of Dr. Nimesh Vashi and Shri Andheshwar Mahadev Sankul Trust.

Their mission: to enhance the spiritual experience, revive traditional Indian art forms, and honour the eternal spirit of Lord Shiva.

Key Highlights
Dwadash Jyotirlingas: A Sacred Restoration of Shiva’s Cosmic Presence

A newly constructed temple complex designed to enshrine the twelve Jyotirlingas. Whose architecture inspired by sacred Vastu principles and cosmic geometry. Symbolically, the redesigned temple complex is envisioned as a cosmic diagram—with Mount Meru, the mythical centre of the universe, represented by the Dwadash Jyotirling structure. Surrounding it, celestial constellations are reflected in the distribution of various spaces and activities across the site. The landscape design further enhances this symbolism, inviting visitors to engage with the concept of the Panch Mahabhuta — the five elements (earth, water, fire, air, and ether)—through thoughtfully placed art installations.

Divine Additions: Ram Kutir & Sai Kutir

The newly constructed Ram Kutir and Sai Kutir, designed with architectural elegance and spiritual intent, serve as sanctified dwellings for inner peace, prayer, and connection with the divine.

Expanded Public Amenities include:

  • Restaurant for devotees and visitors
  • Visitor information centre
  • Seating areas, gardens, and meditation spaces
  • Children’s play zone and restful community areas
The Artwork Program: Sacred Narratives in Form and Colour

A landmark initiative in collaboration with People Collage (Ahmedabad)—a multidisciplinary design collective—this program reimagines the temple environment as a spiritual gallery.

Objectives of the Artwork Program:
01
Spiritual Enrichment

Inspire deeper devotion through meaningful, mythological art.

02
Cultural Revival

03

  • Works are based on scholarly research, ensuring authenticity and reverence.

A Sacred Cosmic Layout
The redesigned complex mirrors the cosmic mandala, with the Jyotirling shrine at its heart.
Panch Mahabhuta (Five Elements) are embodied through themed landscapes and installations.
Every pathway, wall, and space invites reflection, devotion, and connection.

A Confluence of Devotion, Culture & Modern Vision

Driven by Dr. Vashi’s philanthropic spirit and the creative synergy of designers, scholars, and artisans, the renewed Andheshwar Mahadev Sankul is more than a temple—it is a living confluence of spirituality, heritage, and community.
This transformation stands as a timeless testament to what can be achieved when faith meets imagination, and tradition is carried forward with vision.
