The 108 Lotuses, a sacred symbol of devotion, grace the connecting pathway of Shri Andheshwar Mahadev Sankul in a stunning stained glass installation by Meeta Parikh. Each lotus, glowing softly, illuminates the space with divine radiance, guiding visitors on a path of spiritual purity and beauty.
The 108 lotuses, a timeless emblem of purity and divinity, are beautifully reimagined in this stained glass installation by renowned artist Meeta Parikh. Each lotus emits a soft, elegant glow, symbolizing spiritual radiance. Positioned on the ceiling, these luminous lotuses reflect their impression on the ground, creating a mesmerizing path of divine beauty.
The Legend of 1000 Lotuses
Once, chanting Shiva’s name, Lord Vishnu began offering his favorite lotuses to the Shivling. As he reached 999, Shiva, moved by Vishnu’s devotion, concealed the final lotus. Without hesitation, Vishnu plucked his own lotus-shaped eye and offered it to complete the ritual, signifying his unwavering dedication.
Impressed, Shiva granted him the indestructible Sudarshan Chakra, a celestial weapon as powerful as the Brahmastra and Trishul. The Sudarshan Chakra is so sacred that it can only be wielded by Parmeshwar (Supreme Lord) and Mata Lakshmi.
Pathway to Enlightenment
The 108 Lotuses do not merely decorate the ceiling—they create a spiritual corridor that invites quiet introspection and reverence. Walking under their soft glow becomes a meditative experience, a symbolic journey toward inner awakening.
Much like the number 108—considered sacred across Hindu, Buddhist, and yogic traditions—each step beneath this canopy represents a mantra, a breath, a moment of spiritual alignment. This installation thus becomes a living prayer, where art and devotion converge to lead seekers closer to the divine essence that lies within and all around.
A Divine Devotion
This installation is more than a visual marvel; it is a symbol of unwavering faith and divine reciprocity. It reminds us that true devotion transcends the material realm, forging an eternal bond between the worshipper and the divine.
As you walk beneath this celestial bloom, may its radiance illuminate your path, just as Vishnu’s devotion was eternally blessed by Shiva.
